Richard Oliver Lysne was born on December 3, 1947 in Nashua, MN, to Oliver and Agnes (Wilke) Lysne. At a young age, his family moved to Fairmount, ND, where he participated in baseball and football throughout high school before graduating in 1967.
On February 24, 1968, Richard was united in marriage to Delores Schmit, and they were blessed with two children, Kari and Ryan. He was later drafted into the U.S. Army where he served in Vietnam. After his honorable discharge, Richard returned to Fairmount before moving to St. Paul, MN, with Delores. While there, the two worked at the Afton Alps animal Shelter together. Richard and Delores then moved to Milnor, ND, where he began working at Bobcat in Gwinner, ND, working for over 30 years until his retirement. The couple later moved to Rutland, ND.
Richard was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He loved spending time with his family and grandkids. He was a man who enjoyed being in nature, from his hunting and fishing trips, to spending time in his own garden. Richard also enjoyed all sports, but particularly cheered on the Minnesota Vikings and Twins, and the NDSU Bison.
Richard is survived by his wife of 53 years, Delores Lysne of Rutland, ND; Kari (Russ) Wood, and their children Rayna, Trista, Evelyn, and Wesley of Walker, MN; Ryan (Stephanie) Lysne and their children Landyn, Jolie, and Ledger of Mooreton, ND; and many nieces and nephews.
